Abstract

Malaysia is changing fast towards becoming a nation that possesses
comparative economic and industrial advantage base on engineering
talent. Centra l planning includes improving its education and research
p rogrammes . The development ofthe Murine Techn ology Laboratory at
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia is part of such prog ramme to support the
national marit ime engineering sector. The paper captures the dynamic
cha nge of the mar ine technology edu cation curricula since its incep tion
ill the early eighties and the role of the laboratory ill harnessing the
curric ula to make it more relevant, attractive and connected.
